Recent Obsession - Castle

Currently in its third season, Castle is a show that I only really started to love this summer, after the encouragement of my friend Sara. I’d seen a few episodes from the first season, but didn’t find it to be appointment viewing. I had lots of episodes sitting on my DVR, so one gloomy LA weekend I started on a season two episode. And five hours later I was still on the couch completely glued to the TV, hesitating to go out that evening like I had planned. Castle’s similar to many procedural crime shows like CSI, but the main difference is that the title character (Richard) Castle is a best selling crime novelist who gets to follow an NYPD detective team because he’s pals with the mayor. And although Detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) may dislike him at first he grows to be an important member of their crime solving team and she becomes the inspiration for a character in his novels. The character of Richard Castle is played to perfection by Nathan Fillion and it’s his sizzling chemistry with Beckett which really makes the show. I also love Castle’s mother and daughter, who both live with him in his Manhattan apartment. His daughter Alexis (Molly C Quinn) is very grounded and genuine, despite the actions of her playboy father and Castle often learns from her.

Glee does Britney Spears! OMG!

Glee is one of the best shows on TV right now. It's funny, it's dramatic, it's heartwarming and it includes pop music! Incase you didn't already know two of my favourite things in life are TV and pop music. Last night's episode was one I have been looking forward to for a long time, the Britney Spears episode. Yes, many people hate Britney Spears, but I am not one of them. I was in high school in the late 90's (shocking I know) and feel like I grew up with Britney. In the episode, titled 'Britney/Brittany' a couple of the Glee kids need to go to the dentist (played by new cast member and hottie John Stamos) and when they're under anesthetic they have tripped out Britney Spears hallucinations. They were all fantastic, but the best was when Rachel (played brilliantly by Lea Michele) was in the 'Baby One More Time...' video dancing in the halls and pining after Finn. If you don't watch Glee you should! Tuesdays, 8pm on Fox
